Long Time No Post

I just realized that while I have a lot of drafts waiting to go, I have gotten so busy with other commitments and appointments and actually listened to my body when I needed to rest that I have not actually posted anything this month. My favorite editor, That Guy, needs to give them a good once over and they will be ready to go. I will be getting some of those drafts finished up and posted. And I promise to continue to tell the story as it happened to me over the last nearly ten months since this all started. So all is well here with That Family and new content will be coming soon!

My Cheesy Valentine Recap

That Guy and I have a long history of botched Valentine’s Days. For real. Food poisoning, the flu (both stomach and typical in different years), and even a breakup to give a brief highlight reel. So saying that we don’t really make a deal out of it anymore is an understatement. We have actually intentionally celebrated on March 14th to avoid the crazy in the past and try to switch it up. This year I went in with no expectations and actually enjoyed the day quite a bit! [Read more…]

Wacky Wednesday – Gas Hole

Breast Cancer isn’t really very funny. Parenthood, however, I will admit can be really really funny. And I do try to laugh at myself as often as possible. When you combine That Girl, That Guy, and My Girls, you get a pretty Wacky life. When I was a child, probably when I was learning to read, one of my favorite books was “Wacky Wednesday” by Dr. Seuss. Since we constantly talk about how wacky my oldest is, some Wednesdays I will be sharing what I think are pretty Wacky stories, quotes, and silliness from our lives. Enjoy!

We live in an area where it snows. For most people, you drive when you have to, and you just do it carefully until it becomes unsafe to go out. This is That Guy’s category. Then there are people who get super anxious about it, but do it anyway. I’m in that category. Then there are people that have huge SUVs with brand new tires and are still freaking out white knuckled and holding their breath with the first 1/4″ on the ground. That’s my mom’s category.

Guest Post – Staying Sane During an Insane Time

Hey all. It’s That Guy filling in for That Girl. A little while ago, the readers of this blog voted on a topic for me to discuss in a guest post. And finally, with the help of some ‘gentle reminders’ from That Girl, I’ve gotten around to writing about it. Staying sane during an insane time. Oh where to start?

Places to go, People to see

Like most parents, traveling does not happen as much as it did before kids for us. Being “stuck” in our hometown for the last 15 months, since our last family vacation is making me a bit stir crazy. Now that I am nearing the end of treatment, I am literally dreaming of all the places I want to go, and people I want to see!

Wacky Wednesday – 1, 2, 3, Magic!

Breast Cancer isn’t really very funny. Parenthood, however, I will admit can be really really funny. And I do try to laugh at myself as often as possible. I believe I have mentioned before that while she is handling the world flipping upside down year as well as can be expected, That Little Girl has acted out and had a lot of questions. We answer her as best as we can in a way that is age appropriate, but sometimes she just is a preschooler and throws fits, doesn’t answer, and acts like she is a teenager. So there’s the honesty.

Wacky Wednesday – My WBC is Better Than Yours

The last day of my chemotherapy treatments, That Little Girl was pretty amazing. And I was pretty tired that afternoon. She was playing alone in her room during quiet time and made quite possibly her biggest mess to date. Silently.

Cycle One Week One

The day after my first A-C chemo treatment, Day 2, I woke up feeling fairly normal. This was as expected I think. I was careful not to kiss my family on the lips. I was using my own bathroom. I was drinking plenty of water. I was careful to take the prescribed medications exactly how and when they were prescribed to avoid side effects.
