Wacky Wednesday – Keeping It Real

Breast Cancer isn’t really very funny. Parenthood, however, I will admit can be really really funny. And I do try to laugh at myself as often as possible. When you combine That Girl, That Guy, and My Girls, you get a pretty Wacky life. When I was a child, probably when I was learning to read, one of my favorite books was “Wacky Wednesday” by Dr. Seuss. Since we constantly talk about how wacky my oldest is, my Wednesday posts will be sharing what I think are pretty Wacky stories, quotes, and silliness from our lives. Enjoy!

Just when I am starting to feel like someday I may have it all together, or at least as together as I ever had it in the Old Days, as That Little Girl likes to call our pre-cancer pre-That Baby lives, something comes along to let me know that in fact that is totally false. There have been really successful outings, even to New York for the day, but generally it has included four adults to the two kiddos. And as far as me personally, I seem to be stuck in a cycle of feeling normal-ish then getting knocked down a peg or two in energy and appearance to remind me this is just not over yet.

That Little Girl vs. That Baby – Part 1 of Many

Between That Guy and I, one of us was raised an only child and the other not. DSC_0437 - Version 2

So I think I threw it out there that we recently celebrated That Little Girl’s birthday. After a lot of discussion, she chose to have a very small rainbow party with a few friends here at the house. In the past, I have really gone a little crazy with decorations and searched all over pinterest for the perfect this and the ideal that. This year, not so much. Maybe it is a new perspective. Maybe it is exhaustion. Maybe it is having two kids now. Maybe it is lack of money since I haven’t been working. Maybe it is all of the above. In any case, I decided to do a few things and be done. I was determined not to make myself crazy. I might have been a little crazy, but it was a good thing. I didn’t venture into bad crazy. [Read more…]

Other Birthdays

I’m not sure what the normal protocol is for life threatening events and survival, but years ago I had blood clots in my lungs (pulmonary embolisms) and obviously I survived. From that date forward, my mom called it my second birthday. On my first second birthday, she even bought me a card and gifts. Maybe even balloons if I remember correctly?
