Wacky Wednesday – Christmas in July?

Breast Cancer isn’t really very funny. Parenthood, however, I will admit can be really really funny. And I do try to laugh at myself as often as possible. When you combine That Girl, That Guy, and My Girls, you get a pretty Wacky life. When I was a child, probably when I was learning to read, one of my favorite books was “Wacky Wednesday” by Dr. Seuss. Since we constantly talk about how wacky That Little Girl is, my Wednesday posts will be sharing what I think are pretty Wacky stories, quotes, and silliness from our lives. Enjoy!

We are not a family that really decorates the exterior of our house for holidays. I love decorating inside for Christmas, but we have never done the lights or anything all over the trees and roofline. Candles in the windows is a big thing in our area and we do that. No plastic or blow up decorations in the grass at our house. I’m not a grinch though. As a matter of fact, one of my favorite evenings of the year is when we all pile in my parent’s car and go look at lights.

So now here it is mid-summer and we are in the midst of a heatwave. I am trying to keep up with my running program so here and there I have to run first thing in the morning. It isn’t a natural thing for me to hop out of bed before 6 and go out for a run. It just isn’t. That said, I am starting to get into it and enjoy it. They aren’t usually my best runs, but it is better than not running.

So the most recent excursion was going pretty well. I don’t run the same exact path each time, but I do stick to the same streets and just vary where I turn and cross and loop back and so forth. Since it was early, the streets were quiet and there weren’t many people out and I got to what is usually a busier area and noticed decorations. Christmas decorations. An exterior light pole along a sidewalk had lights wrapped around it and some bells hung from the lamp. There was a plastic snowman beside it. I did a legit double take, but kept going wondering what the deal was.

So I came up with three possibilities. Decorating early, haven’t taken them down and I missed it these last couple of months, or a Christmas in July celebration? Is that a thing people do?
